Taiwan Business TOPICS is pleased to bring you the third annual Travel and Culture special issue. Along with the Wine and Dine in Taiwan issue published at the beginning of the year, this volume represents a departure from the magazine's regular focus on business and the economy.
Travel and Culture aims at providing useful reference for both residents of Taiwan and non-residents. For those living on the island, the articles provide information and inspiration on what to do and see when leisure hours provide a respite from the call of business. For those overseas, the contents are a guide for planning the next trip to Taiwan, or a means of vicarious enjoyment of what the island has to offer. These special issues reflect AmCham's continuing interest - part of the mission defined in the Chamber charter - in promoting the betterment of the quality of life in Taiwan for both expatriates and the local citizenry. Quality of life issues include clean air and water, smoothly flowing traffic, and adequate healthcare services, but they also encompass opportunities for entertainment, recreation, and cultural stimulation. Through the articles in this volume, we hope to make even more people aware of the scenic, historical, and cultural attractions to be found on Taiwan. |
