AmCham is honored to invite Dr. Ching-te Lai, Tainan City mayor to give a special presentation on Tainan City’s advantages and potential in industry and economic development. New business opportunities have been made possible because of the City’s merger with Tainan County. The mayor will talk about his efforts to map out future growth as well as the city’s projects to attract investment and talent.

台北市美國商會很榮幸邀請到台南市市長 賴清德先生向會員介紹縣市合併升格後的台南市產業優勢與發展方向。賴市長將說明台南市政府協助產業發展的多項計畫與相關機制，期盼透過國際交流，提昇大台南在經貿領域的實力。市府團隊對於大台南地區光電、半導體及生物科技等產業的發展，傳統產業的重生，以及技術升級轉型、吸引企業進駐投資等方面，都積極擘畫，投注許多資源。

About the Speaker:

Dr. Ching-te Lai started his career as a physician specializing in nephrology. He received his medical training at National Taiwan University and National Cheng Kung University. He also holds a Master of Public Health degree from Harvard University.

Before being elected as a member of Taiwan's National Assembly and later as a Legislator of the Legislative Yuan during the 1990's, he held positions at the National Cheng Kung University Hospital and the Sin Lau Hospital of the Presbyterian Church of Taiwan. Dr. Lai was chair of the Legislative Yuan committees on social welfare and judiciary affairs. His other responsibilities included serving as Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) caucus whip and the president of Legislative Yuan’s Health, Welfare and Environment Foundation.

In 2010, Dr. Lai won a landslide victory to take the seat as the new Tainan City mayor.

台南市市長 賴清德先生曾任成大醫院、新樓醫院內科主治醫師。1996年，他以高票當選第三屆國大代表；1998年，他又獲選成為第四屆立法委員。擔任立法委員期間，賴先生曾任立法院厚生基金會會長及衛環委員會召集委員，協助推動醫師法、環境基本法與就業服務法修正案的審查程序。

賴先生也曾擔任立法院司法委員會召集委員、立法院民進黨團幹事長等重要職務。2004年，他獲選成為美國國務院「菁英計畫」訪問學人。2010年，他代表民進黨參選，並以60.41%之高得票率當選改制為直轄市之後的首屆台南市長。

賴先生畢業於國立台灣大學復建醫學系、國立成功大學學士後醫學系，並獲得美國哈佛大學公共衛生碩士。
