Date: Friday, 27 May 2011

AmCham is honored to host this Travel & Tourism Committee Luncheon inviting Russell Flannery, Senior Editor of Forbes magazine, to talk about how to market Taiwan to mainlanders.

Taiwan's travel and hotel industries will have a better chance than ever to tap into the spending power of mainland Chinese with the opening of visits by individual Chinese travelers this summer. How can those industries best position themselves to win over mainland customers? Forbes magazine senior editor and Shanghai bureau chief Russell Flannery, previously a Taiwan correspondent for the Asian Wall St. Journal and Bloomberg, will lead a timely panel discussion that will include executives from each field.

About the Speaker

Russell Flannery has been reporting on Asia's businesses for leading U.S. media for more than a decade and a half. He joined Forbes as an associate editor of its international edition in early 2001. Before moving to Forbes, Flannery was a correspondent in Taipei and Shanghai for Bloomberg News (1991-1997) and in Taipei for the Asian Wall Street Journal (1998-2000).

Flannery leads the compilation of the Forbes Rich Lists for Hong Kong, the mainland and Taiwan. He has interviewed numerous top-ranking list members. He is also the Shanghai Bureau Chief of Forbes.
