Joint Chamber Special Breakfast - Corporate Governance in the Post-Crisis World Challenges PDF Print E-mail

Date: Thursday, 28 October 2010

Corporate governance issues are again making headline news in the wake of the global financial crisis. Although there has long been recognition that good corporate governance makes good business sense, this maxim has not always been at the centre of corporate management preoccupations. Reactions to the global financial crisis suggest this will need to change and that – post-crisis – many businesses will need to be even more focused than before on issues of corporate governance and the checks and balances they need in place to foster a sound business decision-making and capital-raising environment.

AmCham is honored to co-host this event and invite Ms, Jane Diplock to share her views on the global financial crises, its causes and lessons, including: the interconnectedness of global markets; and the importance of good governance and sustainability. She will also talk about ways to improve corporate governance, covering topics such as governance structures and integrated reporting.

About the Speaker

Ms. Jane Diplock has an extensive background in the areas of financial and securities market regulation. She has been Chair of the New Zealand Securities Commission since 2001 and Chair of the Executive Committee of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) since 2004. Prior to moving to New Zealand, Jane Diplock was the New South Wales regional commissioner on the Australian Securities and Investment Commission.
