Date: Tuesday, 31 March 2009 The global financial tsunami has caused unprecedented impact to global economies, and Taiwan is not an exception. What is the Taiwan government’s plan to overcome the financial crisis? Amid the aftermath of financial crisis, will the Taiwan government continue with financial reform? AmCham is honored to invite Sean Chen, Chairperson of the Financial Supervisory Commission, to share his vision on the future policy direction for Taiwan’s financial market. Chairperson Chen’s speech will focus on the recent development and future prospects of Taiwan’s financial markets. He will also discuss the government’s short-term measures to tackle the impact of the global economic crisis and long-term strategies to strengthen the financial-sector’s competitiveness. About the Speaker(s)Sean Chen is Chairperson of the Financial Supervisory Commission. He served as the Chairman of several financial services corporations, including SinoPac Holdings in 2008, KGI Securities Co. Ltd in 2007-2008, and Taiwan Cooperative Bank in 2004-2007. He was the Chairman of Taiwan Stock Exchange in 2002-2004 and Deputy Minister of Finance in 1998-2002. Mr. Chen received his LL.M and LL.B degrees from National Taiwan University and was a DAAD visiting scholar to Frankfurt University in Germany.
