The Kaohsiung Science Park is located in Kaohsiung County southern Taiwan. The total area of geographical boundaries is 6,603 acres. The Park is located approximately 16 miles from Tainan Science Park and can be conveniently accessed. This location is a strong favorite because of the already developed roads and available electrical and water utilities. After AmCham organized a successful tour of the Taoyuan High-Tech Industrial Park and Tainan County, we are eager to arrange more field trips for members – tour to Kaohsiung County. Governor of Kaohsiung County, Mr. Chiu-hsing Yang (楊秋興), will be hosting the luncheon.

Introduction: KaoHsiung Science Park 高雄園區介紹 管理單位：南部科學工業園區管理局 高雄園區之四大產業聚落

Four major industries：

(一) 光電面板產業 Optoelectronics Optoelectronics is KaoHsiung Science Park’s most prominent industry. Companies such as Chi-Mei Electronics, Toppan Printing Co, COSMOTAC and Radiant Opto-Electronics Corp are setting up factories in the park. 光電面板產業為高雄園區最重要之產業聚落，在奇美8.5代廠建廠之效應下，目前已通過包含奇美電子、台灣凸版(彩色濾光片)及高治達 (光學膜片)、瑞儀光電 (導光板及背光模組)等7家公司之核准進駐。

(二) 綠能產業 Green Energy 26 hectares of land has been allocated to green energy development, and the area has the potential to become Taiwan’s main solar technology development center. Companies present include A2PEAK Power and Axuntek Solar Energy. 目前已規劃以高雄園區約26公頃之土地為綠能產業發展專區，並已通過茂能科技太陽能系統)、綠陽光電 (CIGS太陽能電池)等太陽能電池周邊設備廠商之核准進駐，未來在金屬中心及原子能委員會核能研究所之協助下，高雄園區將可成為國內首屈一指的太陽能研發中心

(三) 生技醫療器材產業 Biotech Medical Devices 15 hectares of land has been allocated for biotech medical devices research and development. Initial focuses will be on dental, orthopedic and cosmetic devices. Future collaboration on optoelectronic medical devices development is planned with nearby institutions such as National Cheng Kung University and KaoHsiung Medical University. 為發展生技醫療器材產業，已規劃以高雄園區約15公頃之土地為生技醫療器材產業發展專區，初期並將以齒科、骨科及美容相關器械設備作為該產業專區之發展目標。在金屬中心光電醫材處之進駐協助之下，未來將結合周圍成大、高雄醫學大學及義大醫院之研發能量，全力發展高雄園區為南台灣之醫療器材產業重鎮。

(四) 通訊產業 Telecommunications The Science Park has established a telecom technology center, mainly focusing on WiMAX testing and development. The Park will collaborate with Tatung Telecom to establish the WiMAX RD and Demo Center to enhance telecom industry development in the South. 目前已有大同電信(WiMax應用裝置)等1家廠商進駐，此外電信技術中心亦已在高雄園區設立，該中心不僅為國內唯一取得WiMAX測試認證許可之實驗室，並將於高雄園區建構WiMAX測試認證之實驗室，在未來結合大同電信RD & Demo Center下將可帶動週邊電信通訊產業聚落之發展。
