American Ball 2007
In 1960, New York was the undisputed financial capital of the world. Here, movers and shakers from all over the world gathered to cut deals, while enjoying the best of the best. The dress was elegant; the decor streamlined and modern; the music sexy and powerful. Celebrities like Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and the other members of the Rat Pack strode the stage, exemplifying the era's chic confidence that came to a head at Truman Capote's "Party of the Century," held in the Plaza Hotel's stunning Grand Ballroom in November of 1966. Here, the creme de la creme gathered to kick up its heels in a no-holds-barred gala ball. Now, more than 40 years later, the American Chamber of Commerce in Taipei and American Institute in Taiwan are uniting forces once again to recreate the excitement, the glamour, the unforgettable elegance of this famed Black and White Ball.
