Following last month's issue of Taiwan Business TOPICS, which contains the detailed, weighty, and sober annual Taiwan White Paper, June shifts to a more relaxed mode - the magazine's Travel and Culture special issue, published just in time for the beginning of the summer holiday season. We hope that the contents of this volume will serve as helpful reference for both residents and visitors on what to do and see while in Taiwan, as well as trips to take when heading off the island. Together with the Wine & Dine in Taiwan issue published each January, this edition reflects AmCham's consistent interest (part of the mission set out in the Chamber's charter) of promoting betterment of the quality of life in Taiwan for both expatriates and local citizens. "Quality of life" encompasses clean air and water, smooth traffic flows, and a high level of healthcare service, but also includes opportunities for entertainment, recreation, and cultural stimulation. For those residing in Taiwan, the articles in this issue may provide information and inspiration on how to spend their precious leisure time. For those overseas, the contents can be a guide to planning the next trip to Taiwan or a means of vicarious enjoyment of what the island has to offer.
