Sponsor: American Express

For more than 150 years, American Express has been delivering trust, integrity, security, quality and customer service -- the five attributes of the American Express brand -- to customers around the world. In Taiwan, these brand promises are delivered through American Express International (Taiwan) Inc. (AEITI) and American Express Bank (AEB).

AEITI's operations include credit cards, travel and Travelers Cheques. The American Express Card, one of the company's key products, guarantees zero liability for fraud usage, zero fee for lost card replacement and a unique 24-hour global emergency card replacement service through our 1,700 travel service offices in 200 countries. The Card also provides online fraud protection guarantee services to make Taiwan Cardmembers enjoy worry-free shopping in the real world as well as in the virtual world. It is the only Card in the Taiwan credit card market that provides a total protection to safeguard the security of its customers.

AEITI also provides insurance products for Cardmembers through American Express Life Insurance Marketing Inc. and American Express General Insurance Agency Inc. Both companies were the first of their kind established in Taiwan, which demonstrates that American Express is also committed to introducing innovative financial products and raising the sophistication of local financial industries.

American Express Bank is one of the few foreign banks operating in Taiwan for more than 30 years. AEB offers banking and financial services for high net worth and affluent individuals and financial institutions in Taiwan.

By leveraging the synergies and expertise among its various business units, AEITI and AEB are well positioned to optimize the business opportunities in Taiwan and are committed to deepening their relationship with the people and community here.

Foreword. PDF Print E-mail
TOPICS introduced a "Wine & Dine in Taiwan" special issue in February 2003. The response from readers was so positive - everyone, it seems, likes to learn about good things to eat and the restaurants that offer them - that we've made it a yearly tradition. TOPICS is pleased to present you with the third annual edition, incorporating articles on both Chinese and Western food and drink, along with some suggestions on where best to sample them. Together with the companion volume, Travel and Culture, published in the fall, Wine & Dine represents something of a departure from the normal business focus of this magazine. But these two special issues reflect the American Chamber's longstanding concern with the quality of life in Taiwan both for local citizens and for foreign residents and visitors. One of the great pleasures of being in Taiwan is the chance to partake of some of the world's best cuisine. Through the information imparted in this issue, we hope to acquaint even more people with the breadth of possibilities when it comes to Taiwan wining and dining.
