Selling to China, How Risky Is It?

China has been in strong momentum of economic growth over the recent years, as evidenced by its strong domestic demand, double digit growth of import and export. However with the US subprime and worldwide credit crunch which emerged since second half of 2007, coupled with the fierce inflation and recent enactment of the new labour legislation in China, China enterprises face an imminent challenge of pressure in sales but increase in operating costs. The settlement risk with China enterprises becomes a key concern for corporate which trade with China enterprises.

Speakers will share the result of its corporate payment survey of over 500 Chinese enterprises and its 2008 industry analysis in China.

Members will learn: 

  • Overview of existing payment trend for enterprises in China 
  • Analyze the underlying risks and the corresponding impact 
  • Suggest strategies for risk mitigation 
  • Share payment experience in different industries

About the Speaker(s)

Xavier Farcot is Coface’s Deputy Regional Managing Director for Greater China. He is responsible for underwriting and claims of the Group in Greater China, managing a team of risk and claims specialists located in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China. He has been with Coface since 1981, and stationed in Hong Kong since 2001. Over his years with Coface, Xavier has worked in a number of positions within various departments including market survey insurance, human resources, finance and administration, and subsequently the short-term risks underwriting department. Prior to joining Coface, he worked for Renault in the UK in their Management Control Office.

Xavier graduated from the European Business School, after studying in Paris, Frankfurt and London, in 1981 with a Diploma in Finance.

Payment for Members

Event billing will be sent to members at the end of each month. Expense for any guests invited by an AmCham member will be billed to member's account directly.

Non-members who are neither guests nor staff of members must complete the credit card form and fax it back to AmCham at (02) 2718-8182 prior to registered event.
