AmCham Seminar Series - Communicating With Charts
This seminar is on a first-come-first-served basis, maximum 30 persons. Business is about numbers. How do you get your regional and global bosses, your clients, and your colleagues in other departments to see the meaning behind your numbers? More importantly, how do you make sure that they see only what needs to be seen? Until your audience can see your meaning, they will not understand your message, and until they understand the message, they cannot make a decision, and until they can make a decision, they will not take the action you want them to take. Everything hinges on your audience clearly seeing, understanding, and accepting what and how you show it to them. You know the story of the blind men and the elephant. Well, if the meaning of the numbers during a presentation is the elephant, then most audiences are like the men. Everyone during a presentation is convinced that they are seeing the whole elephant, but each person sees only a part. How do you get everyone on the same page—that is, how do you get everyone to see your whole elephant? This first in a series of three workshops is designed to solve this problem by helping you learn how to visualize the meaning of numbers, so that you can show the meaning, not just the data. The trainer will walk you through a five-step process for helping you learn to analyze the data, choose the right chart to visualize the meaning, create and design the chart, and deliver it effectively using real business cases. Who should attend: Anyone who is responsible for making company figures and data easy for people to see—especially regional bosses, clients, and colleagues in other departments. This includes people working in financial and investment industries, consulting firms, and staff in marketing, sales and finance. This workshop is also useful for members of the senior management who need to provide constructive feedback to their team members and help them improve the quality of their presentation slides.
