近年台灣社會日益國際化,國人在職場中常須以英文做文字表達與溝通。雖經多年英文學習,英文寫作對許多本地人仍是一相當的挑戰,他們常遭遇困難,犯一些基本錯誤。此次的workshop主講人劉柏登(Philip Liu)是Business Topics的特約撰述,聯合報系英文顧問,曾任聯合報系英文中國經濟通訊社總編輯,有三十年,三百萬字英文寫作經驗,甫出版「台灣人如何寫英文」(Taiwan Today)一書 (blog: http://tw.myblog.yahoo.com/poteng-liu/)。他對本地人寫英文時遭遇的困難與常見的問題有深入的了解。在此次的workshop中,他將對本地人寫英文時,應循的原則,做深入的闡釋,協助本地人培育有效的英文文字溝通能力。

About the Speaker

Liu Po-teng (aka. Philip Liu), former editor-in-chief of the China Economic News Service, of the United Daily News Group, English secretary of the newspaper group, and part-time instructor of the English Department of Soochow University teaching English composition and business English. Bachelor, Foreign Language and Literature Department, Soochow University, master, Graduate School of East Asian Studies, National Chengchi University. Veteran English-language journalist, and winner of special judge-panel award, the first financial and economic reporting award of Citibank Taiwan, with a report on internationalization of Taiwanese enterprises. Author of Travel English (Linking Publishing) and Wall Street English (Cosmos Publishing). Currently, he is a full-time English-language freelance reporter and translator, as well as a English consultant to the United Daily News Group.

劉柏登聯合報系英文中國經濟通訊社前總編輯,及報系兼任英文秘書。曾任東吳大學英語系兼任講師,教授英文寫作與應用英文。東吳大學外國語文學系學士,政治大學東亞研究所碩士。資深英文媒體工作者,三百萬字以上英文報導寫作經驗。曾以「臺灣經濟國際化」英文報導一文獲花旗銀行第一屆傑出財經報導獎評審特別獎。著有旅遊英語(聯經出版),實用英文商業財經用語(寂天出版),譯作Ilustrated Taiwanese Folklore (台灣舊俗圖集,聯經)。現成立英文顧問工作室,從事英文投稿寫作、翻譯,固定服務對象包括中經社、美國商會等,並擔任聯合報系英文顧問。
