HOSTS: Ms. Lume Liao, AmCham CSR Committee Co-Chair
COST: Member & Non-member: $600- (No Show Penalty: $1,500-)
AmCham is honored to invite Dr. Dean R. Hirsh, Global Ambassador and former President of World Vision, to share his insight about future challenge for corporations. The future challenge – is to make success sustainable. Success is no longer measured in quarterly profit margins, or in daily, or weekly, or monthly stock prices. Success is measured more broadly in community development, in environmental protection. It is in capital investment – that is, human capital, especially in the developing world. Dr. Hirsh will also talk about the global corporate imperative-partnership and share success stories about NGO's creative partnerships with corporations. We are also delighted to have the leaders of Corning, Microsoft and others share their experience in executing CSR programs in Taiwan.
About the Speakers
Hirsch is known for refocusing World Vision’s development and advocacy work on children. During Hirsch’s presidency, World Vision’s income grew five-fold. Today, its 40,000 staff members provide health care, education, clean water, emergency food, tools, shelter and technical know-how to millions of the world’s poorest inhabitants. A veteran of world trouble spots including Somalia and North Korea, Hirsch has worked extensively in disaster and post-conflict situations. Hirsch, 61, holds a master of science degree from Indiana State University and a bachelor of arts and an honorary doctorate from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California. He was also awarded honorary doctorates from Pepperdine University (2006), Eastern University of Pennsylvania (2001) and Myongji University in Seoul, Korea (1999).
