About Surface Computing:
Microsoft Surface represents a fundamental change in the way that people interact with digital content. Forget the mouse and keyboard, Microsoft Surface employs a camera-based vision system that lets users grab digital content with their hands and move information between objects with simple gestures and touches. With a 30-incu tabletop display, multiple users can get together to interact with digital information — and with each other.Microsoft Surface 是一個由微軟所開發結合硬體與軟體的新技術，使用者可以直接用手或聲音對桌面螢幕作出指令，毋須再依賴傳統滑鼠與鍵盤。Surface 強調使用更為直覺，搭配30吋的大型顯示器，其機構（form factor）外型很像一張桌子，並允許多人其上面觸控操作。 Microsoft Surface與一般觸控式電腦最大不同在於提供了多重觸控（multi-touch）功能，可以同時辨識多點的觸控資訊，可讓多人（multi-user）同時使用一台Surface電腦。

About the Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC):
In 2008, Microsoft announced the establishment of a Microsoft Innovation Center in the Nangang Software Park to help boost Taiwan's software R&D capability and spur development of innovative Internet applications for Taiwan's ICT industry. This initiative helped implement the Taiwan government’s industrial restructuring policy, while encouraging industry innovation. The Microsoft Innovation Center will help Taiwan tap into global innovation and R&D resources, while enhancing Taiwan’s position among multinationals pursuing strategic global deployment. The Microsoft Innovation Center aims to integrate local and overseas technology professionals, technology and resources to help industry partners develop R&D for next-generation Web applications and software engineering to strengthen Taiwan’s ICT industry. Moreover, it will help Taiwan’s software and hardware industry development efforts in industrialized countries, while enabling the island to play a pivotal role in the global economy.The Microsoft Innovation Center focuses on the following technology and research:
Next Generation Web
- Seeks R&D cooperation with local Web leaders to develop effectively influence the market
- Drives next-generation user experiences with interactive multimedia design to enhance value
- Speeds the introduction of cloud computing and a service-oriented structure to strengthen local companies’ competitiveness
Software Engineering Excellence
The Microsoft Innovation Center brings the latest international software R&D technologies, such as usability design and testing, RIA programming, Mashup technology, and surface computing. During the transition of Web technologies, the focus will be on development of new business models as well as business opportunities in conjunction with partners, whose digital innovation capability, software added value and international competitiveness will be strengthened. Modes of cooperation include the following:
- Domain expertise: Integrates partners’ specific domains to create an agile mechanism by flexible, open training
- Experience sharing: Shares Microsoft’s successes and failures to provide lessons learned
- Engineering excellence: Provides the best, most practical tools to pursue excellence
Software +Service world
The future will be software plus service. Users can tap into the Internet to connect all Microsoft products such as digital cameras, cell phones, computers and photo frames. Live Mesh makes information exchange easier and faster.

Payment for Members
Event billing will be sent to members at the end of each month. Expense for any guests invited by an AmCham member will be billed to member's account directly.

Non-members who are neither guests nor staff of members must complete the credit card form and fax it back to AmCham at (02) 2718-8182 prior to registered event.
