AmCham IP&L Committee Luncheon
Section 337 of the US Tariff Act is a process by which companies can seek compensation for IPR violating products being imported into the US. Two U.S. intellectual property experts - Attorney Mark Hogge and Attorney Michael Schlesinger, will brief AmCham members on the practice under Section 337. They will also share US experiences in internet copyright and brand protection. About the Speaker(s)Mr. Mark Hogge is an experienced Trial lawyer and registered patent attorney. He has litigated over 150 patent cases in a wide rage of areas as semiconductors, software, power electronics, plastics, malt beverages etc. Also a general civil trial lawyer, Mr. Hogge has extensively litigated non-patent cases involving RICO, fraud, copyright, dealership termination, trademark, trade name and trade secret infringement, breach of contract, false advertising, and common law unfair competition. Mr. Hogge received his B.A and J.D. from George Mason University. Mr. Michael Schlesinger’s practice focuses on intellectually property with an emphasis on international copyright law and trademark law. Mr. Schlesinger represents the International Intellectual Property Alliance (IIPA), coalition of seven major trade association (comprised of 1,900 companies) in world wide copyright legislation and enforcement reform efforts, as well as government affairs and trade-related aspects of intellectual property rights. Mr. Schlesinger is also extensively with U.S. government officials and foreign government counterparts on negotiating and implementing global IP agreements.
