AIT Political Section chief offers his off-the-record projection of what U.S. policy in Asia and toward Taiwan may look like under the next U.S. administration, one week prior to Barack Obama's inauguration as the 44th President of the United States.

About the Speaker(s)

David Rank has served as the Chief of the Political Section of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) since August 2008. He joined the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State in 1990. His overseas assignments include the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai and the U.S. Embassies in Beijing (twice), Athens, and Port Louis, Mauritius. In Washington, he served as the Republic of Korea desk officer in the State Department Office of Korean Affairs, as the Special Assistant for East Asian and Pacific Affairs to the Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs and as a Dean Rusk Fellow at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. Mr. Rank is married to Mary Elizabeth (Randall) and has two daughters and a son. He is a native of South Bend, Indiana. He has a BA from the University of Illinois and an MA from Iowa State University and studied Mandarin Chinese at National Taiwan Normal University. He speaks Chinese, French and Greek.

* Non-members whose companies are also non-members of AmCham may attend a maximum of three AmCham events.   
  
Payment for Members

Event billing will be sent to members at the end of each month. Expense for any guests invited by an AmCham member will be billed to member's account directly.

Non-members who are neither guests nor staff of members must complete the credit card form and fax it back to AmCham at (02) 2718-8182 prior to registered event.
