Committee Events - AmCham Infrastructure Committee Luncheon

Visions for Taiwan Urban Regeneration 台灣都市更新之展望

SPEAKER Mr. Charles Chin-Rong Lin, Director General, Construction & Planning Agency, Ministry of the Interior / 內政部營建署署長 林欽榮先生
COST Member: NT$1,300 - Non-member: NT$1,900

Cities in Taiwan have experienced a rapid urban expansion resulting from the speedy economic growth from the 1960s to 1980s. In light of changing demographic trends and the need to take sustainable development into consideration, the concept of urban regeneration arose as a new way to think about urban spatial planning. During the first stage starting from 1998, the central government set up the Urban Renewal Act and relevant regulations and measures to encourage the renewal of communities. Currently, the authorities are endeavoring to adopt a series of action plans for the second stage of urban regeneration, aiming to connect it to regional development strategy and promote the competitiveness of Taiwan’s cities by means of the social, economic and environmental regeneration of urban areas.
